Hello! I’m Dandya Chen, a 22-year-old photographer from Newcastle with a deep passion for dance photography. As a dedicated competitive dancer, I love capturing movement, emotion, and artistry in my photographs
I’m currently pursuing an MSc in Performance Psychology at the University of Edinburgh, having previously earned a BSc in Psychology from Durham University.
How I started getting interested in photography
In 2017 I was invited to a photoshoot for ‘Prima Dancewear’ with Hanri Photography. While I was there as a dancer, I found myself more fascinated by how the photographer captured movement than being in front of the camera. Seeing how she produced beautiful breathtaking images instilled a new passion and I grew a desire to photograph dancers.
